They Were Best Friends On TV, But Not In Real Life
They hugged, laughed, and acted like the best of friends on television. But behind the cameras, some of TV's most beloved costars reportedly couldn't stand the sight of each other. From explosive arguments and bitter rivalries to decades of silence, the real drama sometimes made their onscreen storylines look tame.
So which famous TV friendships were allegedly hiding some seriously bad blood?

John Amos And Jimmie Walker: Good Times
John Amos and Jimmie Walker played a close-knit father and son on Good Times, but their real-life relationship was remarkably distant. Walker's popularity, particularly his famous "Dy-no-mite!" catchphrase, reportedly frustrated Amos and fellow cast member Esther Rolle. Both worried that the sitcom was becoming too focused on J.J.'s exaggerated comedy rather than realistic family stories.

They Barely Spoke When Cameras Stopped
In a 2012 interview with TheWrap, Walker admitted that he rarely spoke with Amos or Rolle outside their work. He explained that their conversations were so limited that a short interview could last longer than their typical exchanges. However, Walker insisted he wasn't angry with either actor, suggesting their relationship was more distant than openly hostile.

Suzanne Somers And Joyce DeWitt: Three's Company
Chrissy Snow and Janet Wood were inseparable roommates on Three's Company, but Suzanne Somers' contract dispute eventually destroyed her relationship with Joyce DeWitt. Somers demanded a substantial salary increase as the sitcom became a massive hit. Her departure in 1981 created a rift that lasted far longer than anyone expected.
They Didn't Speak For 30 Years
Somers and DeWitt remained estranged for approximately three decades before reuniting on Somers' online show in 2012. Somers explained that financial security had motivated her decisions, while DeWitt admitted she hadn't approached acting with the same business-minded attitude. Their emotional reunion finally ended one of classic television's longest-running estrangements.

Their disagreements became increasingly public as discussions about another movie continued.
