Best known for his role in General Hospital, 37-year-old Johnny Wactor met a tragic end on May 25. 

In LA, three men tried to steal his car's catalytic converter, and Wactor was fatally shot.

Gena Rowlands

Gena Rowlands was one of Hollywood's all-time greats. Some of her most popular films include A Woman Under the Influence, The Notebook, and Gloria. Months before her passing, her son Nick Cassavetes (who is also a director) shared that Rowlands had been suffering from Alzheimer's for years. 

She passed on August 14 at the age of 94.

Richard Lewis

Comedian Richard Lewis was a beloved character on Curb Your Enthusiasm. He passed on February 27 in his LA home after having a heart attack. He was 76 years old.

Shannen Doherty had been very open about her longtime battle with cancer before she passed on July 13 at the age of 53. Her initial diagnosis came back in 2015. She was best known for her roles in Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed.

William Russell

William Russell passed at the age of 99 on June 3. He was an English actor with an impressive 70-year career. He became well-known back in the 1950s for his performance in The Adventures of Sir Lancelot, but he also had a popular role in the Doctor Who series.

Carl Weathers

Carl Weathers was both an actor and professional linebacker in his career. He starred in several popular films, including Predator and Rocky. He passed on February 1 at the age of 76.

His family's statement read: "We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Carl Weathers. Carl was an exceptional human being who lived an extraordinary life. Through his contributions to film, television, the arts and sports, he has left an indelible mark and is recognized worldwide and across generations. He was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, partner and friend".

Donald Sutherland

Donald Sutherland had a successful career in film and television. From M*A*S*H to The Hunger Games, he commanded the screen with his effortless acting. He sadly passed on June 20 at the age of 88.

His son, actor Kiefer Sutherland, took to social media to make a heart-wrenching statement: “With a heavy heart, I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away. I personally think one of the most important actors in the history of film. Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that. A life well lived".

Erich Anderson

According to his wife, Saxon Trainor, actor Erich Anderson passed after a "brutal struggle with cancer". He passed on May 31 at the age of 67. 

One of his most popular roles was in Felicity, where he played the father of Keri Russell's character.

Bob Bryar

On November 26, 44-year-old Bob Bryar's body was found at his Tennesee residence. He was best known as the former drummer for the American rock group, My Chemical Romance. He left the band in 2010.

The band released a statement in the wake of his tragic passing: "The band asks for your patience and understanding as they process the news of Bob’s passing".

Grayson Murray

Grayson Murray was a professional golfer who died by suicide on May 25. He was only 30 years old.

The next day, his parents released a heart-wrenching statement: "We have so many questions that have no answers. But one. Was Grayson loved? The answer is yes. By us, his brother Cameron, his sister Erica, all of his extended family, by his friends, by his fellow players and—it seems—by many of you who are reading this. He was loved and he will be missed".

Tony Todd

Tony Todd was best known for his performances in horror films, such as Candyman and Final Destination. Impressively, Todd's filmography includes over 100 appearances in film and television. He was 69 when he passed on November 6.

His co-star in Candyman, Virginia Madsen, expressed her condolences in an Instagram post: “My beloved. May you rest in power sweet to the sweet in heaven. The great actor Tony Todd has left us and now is an angel. As he was in life. More later but I can’t right now. I love you".

Glynis Johns

Actress Glynis Johns had quite an impressive career—from the stage to the screen. She won a Tony Award, and was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award, a Golden Globe Award, and an Oscar. Some of Johns' films included Mary Poppins and The Cabinet of Caligari. 

She lived to the age of 100, passing away on January 4 from natural causes.

Mitzi Gaynor

During the 1950s, Mitzi Gaynor became recognized for her parts in movie musicals. She lived to the age of 93, passing on October 17. Her managers released a statement on social media, sharing, "For eight decades she entertained audiences in films, on television and on the stage. She truly enjoyed every moment of her professional career and the great privilege of being an entertainer".

Gavin Creel

Gavin Creel was a celebrated Broadway actor, who shined through his unforgettable performances in some of the biggest musicals. Some of his notable projects included Hair, Into the Woods, and Hello, Dolly!

Sadly, Creel passed only a few months after his cancer diagnosis. He was 48 years old.

OJ Simpson will go down in history as a controversial celebrity. He was a football player and actor, but most disturbingly, he was suspected of murdering his wife Nicole and her friend.

On April 10, Simpson passed from cancer at the age of 76.

Janis Paige

Passing away at the age of 101, Janis Paige was one of the last stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood. She starred in films such as Remains to Be Seen and Silk Stockings. She also had her very own sitcom called It's Always Jan.

Paige's acting talents were even transferrable to the stage. Some of her projects included Guys and Dolls and Mame.

Morgan Spurlock

Back in 2004, Morgan Spurlock shot to celebrity status with his controversial documentary Super Size Mewhich explored the real effects of eating fast food, specifically McDonald's. He even nabbed an Academy Award nomination for the project.

On May 23, Spurlock passed from complications of cancer at the age of 53.

Dame Maggie Smith

Dame Maggie Smith's long and celebrated career encompassed both the stage and the screen—and she won numerous awards for her talents, including two Academy Awards. Some of her most beloved roles include parts in the Harry Potter movies and the television series, Downton Abbey.

The 89-year-old actress passed peacefully on September 27, surrounded by her friends and family.

Charlie Colin played the bass for the band Train. He was also one of its founding members. He passed suddenly on May 17 when he slipped in the shower and fell. He was 58 years old.

27-year-old Chance Perdomo had his whole life ahead of him when he tragically passed in a motorcycle accident on March 30.

Barbara Rush

Barbara Rush passed on Easter at the age of 97. The actress made her mark through her performances in Peyton Place and It Came from Outer Space.

Her daughter Claudia Cowan told Fox News: "My wonderful mother passed away peacefully at 5:28 this evening. I was with her this morning and know she was waiting for me to return home safely to transition".

Liam Payne

The sudden loss of the singer Liam Payne shocked the world on October 16. He fell from the balcony of his hotel room in Argentina. Numerous stars took to social media to express their grief and condolences, including Payne's former bandmates from One Direction.

In a heart-wrenching joint statement, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan referenced "the loss of our brother". Payne was 31 years old.

Robyn Bernard was best known for her role in General Hospital. The 64-year-old's body was found in a field on March 12 in San Jacinto, California. Reportedly, there was no suspicion of foul play.

Anne Whitfield

Anne Whitfield played Susan Waverly in the beloved holiday film White Christmas. The 85-year-old passed on February 14. While walking in her neighborhood, she experienced an "unexpected accident".

Her obituary read, “Annie’s greatest wish is for her family and future generations to thrive in a world characterized by love, acceptance, natural beauty, and the cessation of political and social injustices. She was a powerhouse in life and we hope her immense positive energy flows out to those who had the pleasure of knowing her".

Song Jae-rim

39-year-old Song Jae-rim was a South Korean actor and model, but was best known for his career in K-dramas, such as Moon Embracing the Sun and We Got Married.

Tragically, his body was found in his Seoul apartment on November 12. The cause of his passing remains unknown.

Toby Keith

Toby Keith was a very popular country singer, with memorable numbers such as "Should Have Been a Cowboy" and "Red Solo Cup".

Sadly, the singer had been battling stomach cancer since 2021. He passed on February 5 at the age of 62. His family shared that "He fought his fight with grace and courage".

91-year-old Mimi Hines was a beloved Broadway performer who passed on October 21 from natural causes. Following Barbra Streisand's run as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl, it was Hines who took on the iconic role.

Kenneth Mitchell

Kenneth Mitchell passed on February 24, five years after receiving his ALS diagnosis. He was best known for his work in Star Trek: Discovery.  

His family made a statement that they posted on X. Part of it read: “Ken was widely known as an actor in many films and television shows. He’s portrayed an Olympic hopeful, an apocalypse survivor, an astronaut, a superhero’s dad, and four unique Star Trekkers".

Christian Oliver

Actor Christian Oliver was only 51 when he lost his life in a plane crash on January 4. There were three other people on board: the pilot and Oliver's two daughters, 10-year-old Madita and 12-year-old Annik. Tragically, none of them survived the accident.

Oliver was known for films like Baby-Sitters Club and Speed Racer.

Drake Hogestyn

Drake Hogestyn passed on September 28 at the age of 71. He was best known for his role on the soap opera Days of Our Lives in which he played John Black. He hung on to this role for 38 years. 

The television series released a statement following his loss: "He was thrown the curve ball of his life when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, but he faced the challenge with incredible strength and determination. After putting up an unbelievable fight, he passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones".

David Soul played one of television's most iconic characters: Detective Kenneth Hutchinson—or Hutch—in Starsky & Hutch. 

The 80-year-old actor passed on January 4.

The All My Children actor Alec Musser tragically died by suicide at the age of 50 on January 12. His fiancée Paige Press found him "slumped forward on the bathroom floor". He'd shot himself.

Press posted an Instagram story, reading, "RIP to the love of my life. I will never stop loving you. My heart is broken".

Racing driver Bobby Allison passed at the age of 86 on November 9. He had a prolific career that included 85 victories. Some of his notable accolades include three Daytona 500 wins and winning the 1983 NASCAR Cup Series.

Quincy Jones

Quincy Jones was a titan in the music industry—and he wore many hats. He was a record producer, composer, trumpeter, bandleader, and more. Over the course of his legendary career, he won a whopping 28 Grammy Awards.

Following his passing on November 3, his family shared a touching statement: “Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones’ passing. And although this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him". 

He was 91 years old.

Chita Rivera passed on January 30 at the age of 91. The actress made her Broadway debut all the way back in 1950, starring in Guys and Dolls. During her lifetime, she won two Tony awards for Best Actress.

Fitness instructor Richard Simmons was best known for his aerobics show Sweatin' to the Oldies and the talk show The Richard Simmons Show. He passed on July 13 at the age of 76.

Speaking to People magazine, his publicist Tom Estey said, "The world has truly lost an angel".

Dexter Scott King

Dexter Scott King was the son of Dr Martin Luther King Jr and Coretta Scott King. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer and passed on January 22 at the age of 62.

His wife Leah Weber King shared a statement: “He transitioned peacefully in his sleep at home with me in Malibu. He gave it everything and battled this terrible disease until the end. As with all the challenges in his life, he faced this hurdle with bravery and might".

Michael Newman was best known for his role on Baywatch. In 2006, his health took a major hit after he received a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease. According to his friend, Matt Felker, the 67-year-old actor passed in the company of his family and friends on October 20 after suffering fatal "heart complications".

Actor Gary Graham became known for his performances in Alien Nations and Star Trek: Enterprise. He passed on January 22 at the age of 73.

Ron Ely was best known for his role in the Tarzan series during the 1960s. Following the 86-year-old's passing on September 29, his daughter Kirsten took to social media and made a poignant post about her father: "The world has lost one of the greatest men it has ever known – and I have lost my dad. My father was someone that people called a hero. He was an actor, writer, coach, mentor, family man and leader. He created a powerful wave of positive influence wherever he went".

77-year-old Wayne Northrop passed from complications from Alzheimer's disease on November 29. The actor was best known for his roles in Days of Our Lives and Dynasty. 

In a statement, his wife Lynn Herring Northrop shared, “Wayne touched so many people with his sense of humor and wit. A husband for 43 years, the best dad ever to his two boys, Hank and Grady, and a rancher who loved his cows and was a friend to many".

Susan Buckner will forever be known as Patty Simcox in Grease. However, her career in show business was cut short after she decided to devote her time to raising her children.

Guitarist Dickey Betts had cancer and lung disease—and passed on April 18 at the age of 80. He was one of the founding members of the Allman Brothers Band. 

He helped write a number of songs for the band, such as "Ramblin' Man". In 1995, Betts earned his place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Cole Brings Plenty

Actor Cole Brings Plenty was only 27 when his body was discovered on April 5; he had been reported as a missing person and was allegedly involved in a domestic incident.

The young actor was best known for his role in 1923—the prequel series to Yellowstone.

Earl Holliman

Actor Earl Holliman landed his first film in 1953, and in the following decades, he became known for his Westerns. He won a Golden Globe in 1956 for his performance in The Rainmaker, starring alongside Old Hollywood greats like Katharine Hepburn and Burt Lancaster.

At the age of 96, Holliman passed in hospice care on November 25.

Colin 'Smiley' Petersen passed at the age of 78 on November 18. Though he played for several bands, his time with the Bee Gees as their original drummer might be the defining stroke of his career.

A Facebook post via the Best of the Bee Gees announced Petersen's sad passing: "It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of our dear friend Colin 'Smiley' Petersen. He enriched our lives and bound our group with love, care and respect. Not sure how we can go on without his glowing smile and deep friendship. We love you Col. Rest in Peace".

David Seidler

David Seidler wrote the amazing screenplay for The King's Speech. His own struggle with a stutter eventually inspired him to work on the script. Of course, the film won many awards, and Seidler eventually adapted the script for the stage.

On March 16, Seidler passed during a fly-fishing trip in New Zealand. He was 86 years old.

Paul Di'Anno

66-year-old Paul Andrews (best known as Paul Di'Anno) passed on October 21. From 1978 to 1981, he was the lead heavy metal singer for the band Iron Maiden. He went on to feature in many other bands and also released music as a solo artist.

His record label made a statement on his Facebook profile, revealing, "Despite being troubled by severe health issues in recent years that restricted him to performing in a wheelchair, Paul continued to entertain his fans around the world, racking up well over 100 shows since 2023".

63-year-old Fernando Valenzuela—a broadcaster and former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher—passed on October 22. 

The president and CEO of the Los Angeles Dodgers made a heart-wrenching statement about Valenzuela's legacy: “He is one of the most influential Dodgers ever and belongs on the Mount Rushmore of franchise heroes. He galvanized the fan base with the Fernandomania season of 1981 and has remained close to our hearts ever since, not only as a player but also as a broadcaster. He has left us all too soon. Our deepest condolences go out to his wife Linda and his family".
