On the night of August 4, 1962, Marilyn Monroe made a series of phone calls—including one to actor Peter Lawford. She sounded disoriented and upset, reportedly saying, “Say goodbye to Pat, say goodbye to the President.” Lawford became alarmed when her voice began to fade. He tried calling back, but she never answered.
