Captain America: Brave New World

Marvel fans got their wish—Captain America returned. As the fourth installment in the Captain America film series, it wasn’t the first time audiences had seen Anthony Mackie suit up as the iconic hero, but it was the first time the actor led his own film as the fan-favorite superhero.

Zootopia 2

Zootopia fans had been waiting for this one for quite some time. While not every animated hit manages to pull off a successful sequel, the original Zootopia left audiences wondering what might come next for sly fox Nick Wilde and brave rabbit cop Judy Hopps after their big adventure back in 2016.

The first Zootopia film had been a major hit. It earned a certified fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with a critic score of 98% and an audience score of 92%. In an interview, Disney producer Brad Simonsen said Zootopia 2 would be just as good—or even better—than the original. And plenty of fans were willing to bet he might be right.

Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning

Few actors brought as much on-screen adrenaline as Tom Cruise—especially when he pulled off his jaw-dropping stunts as Ethan Hunt. As the eighth film in the Mission: Impossible series, Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning picked up right where the cliffhanger ending of Mission: Impossible—Dead Reckoning left audiences hanging.

While some fans were deeply invested in the story, plenty of others showed up for a different reason entirely: to see what gravity-defying stunt Cruise would attempt next. And yes, in case anyone somehow missed the memo—he did them all himself.

Wolf Man

The whole vampire-and-werewolf craze had taken a bit of a back seat in recent years, so it felt like the perfect time for a new entry in the genre. Wolf Man arrived in theaters back in January, and while the film received mixed reviews, it still managed to pull in about $32 million at the box office.

It didn’t hurt that Julia Garner—best known for stealing nearly every scene in Netflix’s Ozark—was one of the film’s leading stars. Her presence alone had plenty of viewers curious to see how this latest monster movie would turn out.

Another highly anticipated family film arriving in theaters this spring was the live-action remake of Disney’s beloved Lilo & Stitch. Fans may have noticed the surge in Stitch merchandise throughout 2024—and that wave of excitement only continued as the film’s release approached.

The remake promised the same blend of nostalgia, laughter, and heartfelt moments that made the original so memorable. While not every Disney live-action remake had landed perfectly with audiences, many critics expected this one to hit it out of the park.
