Heather O'Rourke

The ethereal blonde child with piercing blue eyes became an overnight sensation with her spine-chilling delivery of “They're heeeere” in Steven Spielberg's 1982 horror Poltergeist. The previous year, she had been diagnosed with Crohn's disease, a kind of inflammatory bowel sickness.

Unfortunately, this detection was tragically incorrect. Her cause of demise was said to be congenital stenosis of the intestine complicated by septic shock when she died in 1988. The misdiagnosis had delayed proper treatment for what was really an acute bowel obstruction.
