The esteemed title of grandparent is truly an honor, no matter what age you may earn it. And while it’s historically been a label reserved for the “grand” years, many people earn the title much earlier in life—with these Hollywood stars being some of them.

From oldest to youngest, here are 22 celebrities who became grandparents young—some as early as 32!

Priscilla Presley

Priscilla Presley joined the club in her early 50s. At age 54, her daughter Lisa Marie Presley—whom she shared with the late Elvis Presley—had a little girl named Riley Keough.

Tony Danza

Tony Danza was only 54 years old when he became a grandparent. His son Marc Anthony welcomed a son, Nicholas, in 2005. Marc Anthony was 34 at the time.

Kris Jenner

Socialite and businesswoman Kris Jenner is a grandmother to 14 beautiful grandkids. Her first, though, was a son named Mason, born to Jenner’s eldest daughter, Kourtney, in 2009.

Jenner was only 53 years old at the time.

Eminem

Eminem recently revealed that his 28-year-old daughter Hailie Jade was expecting her first child. The rapper joins Hollywood grandparents at the young age of 51.

While 51 may be young for the grandparent title, Eminem is not the youngest celebrity to have earned it.

Nicholas Cage

Nicholas Cage had just turned 50 when his 24-year-old son, Weston Cage Coppola, welcomed his son Lucien.

Coppola has since welcomed three other children, making Cage grandpa to four.

Mick Jagger

Mick Jagger has five grandchildren, but his first came along when he was only 49 years old. His second-eldest daughter, Jade, welcomed her first child, Assisi Jackson, in 1992.

Since then, Assisi welcomed her first child, Ezra—making Jagger a great-grandpa.

Pierce Brosnan was also in his 40s when his adopted daughter Charlotte welcomed her first child, Isabella. Brosnan was only 46 years old at the time.

Sarah Palin had just given birth to her son Trig in April 2008 when her 18-year-old daughter, Bristol, told her she was pregnant. Later that year, Palin became a grandmother, at 44 years old, to baby Tripp.

NeNe Leakes

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes was only 44 years old when her 22-year-old son Bryson Bryant welcomed her first grandchild, Bri’asia.

Snoop Dogg became a grandpa in 2015, when his son Corde Broadus welcomed his first child, Zion.

Snoop was only 43 years old at the time. Since then, he’s earned the respected title six more times, becoming a beloved grandfather to seven grandchildren.

Music legend Kid Rock welcomed his granddaughter, Skye, when he was only 43 years old. His son, Robert James Ritchie Jr, had Skye when he was in his early 20s.

Former Green Bay Packers player Brett Favre’s 21-year-old daughter Brittany gave birth to her son Parker Brett in 2010, making Favre a grandpa at the young age of 40.

Dascha Polanco only recently became a grandmother in 2023, when she was just 40-years-old. 

Her daughter, Dasany Gonzalez, welcomed her first child in her early 20s, a boy. Polanco was in her late teens when she had Gonzalez.

Kiefer Sutherland wasn’t even 40 yet when he earned the esteemed title. His daughter, Sarah Sutherland, who was around the age of 17 at the time, gave birth to Sutherland’s first grandchild—a boy named Quinn—when he was only 39 years old.

Whoopi Goldberg

Whoopi Goldberg’s daughter, Alexandrea Martin Dean, got pregnant at the young age of 16, making Whoopi a grandmother at only 34. Whoopi was also a young mother, having Alexandrea at age 18.

CeeLo Green joined the grandparent club at a very young age. His daughter, Sierra, gave birth to a boy in 2010, when she was 20 years old—and Green was only 32.

Green was only 16 when Sierra was born—however, she is actually not his biological daughter. Green was Sierra’s stepfather while he was married to her mother until 2005—but the two have a strong relationship.

June Shannon

TV personality June Shannon—often known as “Mama June”—was a teen mom herself, having her first child, Anna, shortly after turning 15.

Anna then welcomed her first child, Shannon’s first grandchild, when she was 17—a girl named Kaitlyn. Shannon was only 32 years old when she officially became “Grandma June”.

Sadly, Kaitlyn’s mother passed in 2023 from cancer, and she is now in the custody of her grandmother.
